iPhone apps: Whole Foods Market Recipes, Duo, F.A.S.T

  • Whole Foods Market Recipes (free) is a tool for finding recipes based on natural and organic foods. Users can search for recipes by ingredients or dietary preferences such as low fat, vegetarian, and high fiber. The application currently includes a database of over 2000 recipes each containing detailed preparation instructions and nutritional information. An "On Hand" feature is also included, where users can enter ingredients and get back meal recommendations.

  • Duo (free) allows users to update their Twitter and Facebook statuses. The application includes support for both portrait and landscape orientations and also allows users to set up multiple accounts. The interface provides users with a text box for entering the update, including a word count, and two buttons for posting the update to Twitter or facebook.

  • F.A.S.T. ($6) is a flight combat game where players can pilot 10 different planes including stealth fighters. The game includes 30 missions of increasing difficulty which take place in full 360-degree 3D environments. F.A.S.T. also includes a multiplayer mode which allows players to compete in one-on-one or two-on-two dogfights over a WiFi connection. The new peer-to-peer support in iPhone OS 3.0 also allows players to compete in one-on-one fights over Bluetooth.

  • Stickum ($1) is a tool for creating lists of frequently used copy and paste items. When opening the application users can access two different tabs, one shows items that are in the current pasteboard, while the other presents a list of favorite items. Stickum includes support for both text and pictures and includes options for modifying items that have been added to the favorites list.

  • ReaddleDocs ($5) allows users to store files on an iPhone or iPod touch. Users can move files to the handheld from any computer by using a wireless connection or an online storage service. ReaddleDocs includes support for WebDAV allowing it to connect to most storages services including MobileMe, Box.Net, and Filesanywhere. The application is also able to open most documents directly on the devices including Microsoft Office and Apple iWork files.
