Maingear Axess HD gamer PC

Maingear recently introduced a high-end version of its Axess HD Gamer PC, which is meant to sit in users' living rooms as hinted at by its low-profile black aluminum case and front-mounted OLED display that shows song and artist or movie title information. It is the first PC to ship with the Phantom Lapboard wireless gaming keyboard. The highly-customizable PC ships with an Intel Core i7 CPU and up to 12GB of RAM, as well as dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT graphics cards in an SLI configuration.

A Blu-ray drive is standard fare, as is an 8-channel audio with pre-amp along with optical and coaxial digital audio outputs. Storage comes via two 3.5-inch SATA drives for 2TB of capacity, or users can opt for a pair of smaller but faster solid state drives. Either way, Vista Home Premium with media center is pre-loaded.There is also a multi-format memory card reader.

Connections on the Axess HD Gamer PC include DVI-D, VGA, HDMI and component outputs, as well as dual gigabit Ethernet, eight USB 2.0 ports, two six-pin FireWire ports and an eSATA connection.

The Maingear Axess HD Gamer PC starts at $1,799, though the i7-powered PC will cost significantly more. There is no indication of a release date for the high-spec system.
