MAPublisher 8.1 released

Avenza Systems has released V8.1 of MAPublisher, its plug-in for Adobe Illustrator. The software is used to create maps from GIS data for both print and electronic distribution. The update includes a MAP Web Author tool that can export maps as interactive flash documents, along with a Vector MAP Crop tool eliminates information outside of the selected area for cleaner map edges. MAPublisher can also import data from GIS applications such as ArcGIS, MapInfo, MicroStation, and Google, while preserving the map's attributes and georeferencing.

The application can also export the attributes table to a delimited text file. V8.1 features Specify Anchors that allow world values to be entered in any coordinate system, with a Split Layer function to move data between layers. The update additionally features an enhanced Plot Centroids function, giving the option to copy attributes from the source area.

MAPublisher requires Adobe Illustrator CS3 or CS4. The plug-in can be purchased from the Avenza Systems online store for $1250. The upgrade is free for all MAPublisher Maintenance Program subscribers.
