FileWave 9 adds product database, more security

FileWave 9 update

FileWave has released version 9 of its self-named distribution and management application. The title is mainly intended to install and configure operating system upgrades across large networks, saving the time demanded by manual installations. The update improves inventory management, provides purchase order and maintenance contract management, and includes a vendor and product database. FileWave 9 also includes security features which limit data accessibility by department, OS type or location.

The new version also offers an improved web-based user interface, with asynchronous JavaScript and XML. Using the new purchase orders and maintenance contract information, companies can save orders in a database for later retrieval. The ability to define both products and vendors allows users to create purchase orders directly, and link both license data and audit reports for automatic generation of e-mail notifications to administrators.

FileWave is compatible with Mac OS X 10.3.9 on clients, and v10.4 on an administrator’s system. Buyers must contact the company for pricing information.
