New iPhone iGoogle beta
Google has produced an updated version of its iGoogle web application for iPhones, and devices based on Google's Android platform, like the T-Mobile G1. The new version is said to be faster and easier to use, as well as upgraded to use tabs. More gadgets should now be functional in the mobile app, including third-party ones, though Google warns that some will never function in a mobile browser.
Feed-based gadgets now support inline article display, eliminating the need to visit a separate page when reading summaries. The layout of gadgets can meanwhile be rearranged, and remembered when visiting later; mobile changes do not impact desktop browsers. Google notes that in order to launch the updated iGoogle, users must head to the main website and tap "Try the new Mobile iGoogle" -- the resulting URL should be the one bookmarked.
