Fujifilm outs FinePix Z300

Fujifilm has announced the upcoming release of the FinePix Z300 point-and-shoot digital camera. The 10-megapixel camera most notably features the company's first 3-inch LCD touchscreen; while it has a traditional shutter button, the screen itself can also work as the shutter. Like with rivals, users can focus on a certain face or subject by touching the screen in that area. Only a zoom lever and power button supplement the other controls.

In playback mode, users can use the touchscreen to browse and edit photos as well. There is a face-detection feature that can also be used to prioritize photos by specific people in the frame.

Otherwise, the FinePix Z300 has a 5.7x optical zoom, ISO sensitivity adjustable from 100 to 1,600, and 31MB of internal memory. An SDHC memory card slot is integrated. There is a shake correction function built into the 1/2.3 CCD sensor. Infrared communications is also present for devices that support the IrSimple and IrSS standards. Video, however, is limited to 640x480.

Available in pink, white, purple and black, the the FinePix Z300 is expected to ship in Japan on June 20th, priced at the equivalent of $100. A US release isn't yet public. [via Impress]
