NEC debuts two color-rich 24-inch LCDs in US

updated 09:20 am EDT, Mon June 8, 2009

NEC today quickly followed up on its Japanese releases with the American versions of a pair of color-accurate LCDs. The LCD2490WUXi2 and LCD2490W2 have 24-inch IPS panels that produce better images than PVA or TN screens; the decision gives them about 96.7 percent coverage of the sRGB color space, suiting them to pro-level image editing. They likewise have 12-bit color lookup tables, ambient light sensors to auto-adjust brightness and compensation for color and light variances across the LCD.

Regardless of model, NEC estimates a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio and 320cd/m2 brightness with DVI and VGA as the input choices. The LCD2490W2 bundles a SpectraView color calibrator to give the display a pre-supplied boost to its image quality.

The pivoting, swiveling LCDs ship later this month with the core LCD2490WUXi2 priced at $1,099 and the calibrator boosting the LCD2490W2 to $1,299.

I hope the author meant 96.7% of Adobe RGB, instead of sRGB.
