LaCie unveils LaCinema Classic Bridge hub

updated 04:35 pm EDT, Mon June 8, 2009

LaCie LaCinema Bridge

LaCie on Monday added again to its LaCinema devices with the LaCinema Classic Bridge. The device recognizes any 3.5-inch internal SATA drive, or most USB drives, and plays media stored on either disk using a visual interface to navigate. It can handle videos in DivX, MPEG-4 and XviD up to 1080p, MP3 and WMA audio, and both JPEG and specially optimized HD-JPEG still images.

Output is handled at full resolution through HDMI and also supports RCA (composite) for standard-definition TVs. The USB connection lets owners transfer content directly from a Mac or Windows PC without having to unmount existing drives. The LaCinema Classic Bridge comes with a remote and is available today for $100.
