Imaging Suite beta ships

JAMF has released a public beta version of its forthcoming Imaging Suite. The software is used by administrators to maintain and deploy images over business networks. Sets of applications and end-user configurations are installed, with the aim of maintaining consistency and accuracy between each machine.

A modular approach is supported, allowing multiple packages to be grouped together for a configuration. Application versions can thus remain consistent, through the administrator updating all images simultaneously. The Imaging Suite is also Boot Camp-enabled, permitting it to automatically format a hard drive with both HFS+ and NTFS partitions, and install Mac configurations and Winclone images appropriately.

The suite additionally features automation in the manner of the Autorun and PreStaging components. The former is used to automatically reimage computers, while PreStaging prepares the imaging in advance, only implementing it when computers have been installed and NetBooted.

The final version of Imaging Suite will be available in July. The beta version can be downloaded from the JAMF website.
