Apple iLife, RAW updates
Using Mac OS X's Software Update feature, Apple has released updates to several key pieces of software. Among these is Digital Camera Raw 2.6, which extends RAW format support within Aperture 2.x and the '08 and '09 editions of iPhoto. Compatible cameras now include the Nikon D5000 and the Olympus E-30, as well as Canon's EOS-500D, Rebel T1i and EOS Kiss Digital X3.
The bulk of updates affect the iLife suite, such as iLife Support 9.03. The patch is said to address compatibility problems with iLife, as well as the stability of the Media Browser. The latter component should now also display custom folders properly, and run better as a result of closed memory leaks.
Compatibility problems are also targeted in iDVD 7.04 and iMovie 8.03, with the iDVD update solving a situation in which users could not add titles or comments through the image details list. iMovie should now be be more stable, and support cameras using a 720p AVCHD Lite format. Errors fixed include inaccurate thumbnails in the Video Effects palette, and changed project durations after deleting a beat marker.
