Rogers to offer 15GB data plan mid-month?

Rogers 15GB Data Rumor

Rogers is poised to more than triple the amount of data it can offer in a plan within two weeks, a leak says. Referred to as the Data Plan for Heavy Users, it would allot 15GB per month for $150, or three times as much as the current 5GB plan at less than twice the extra price. It would be usable with any smartphone, including the iPhone, as well as computer modems. Handsets will also have the option of tethering under the plan.

The plan would have a 1c per megabyte overage fee and will purportedly go live on June 16th.

Why the plan is launching now isn't immediately apparent, but it arrives just after the company restored its 6GB/$30 promo for Android phones and after it was reported as adding MMS to iPhone plans.

Whether or not a hint of preparation for heavier iPhone data use, the plan would be rare in North America as few plans for data modems allow more than 5GB of use per month. Carriers like AT&T often provide unlimited on-phone data but regularly forbid tethering under these conditions without a separate plan.

    Errr, okay

Well, it sounds great if you just say that it costs a cent per megabyte.

But it's a bit like Shell selling gasoline for one cent a litre -- but you have to buy a tanker a month for the next three years to get the "special price."

    Rogers scumbags.

    Boo hoo

What? You were going to stop using your iPhone after two years? Who cares if the contract is for three years? Where else are you going to go?

Uhh you don't seem to get it, you go on the plan to get that price and you garuntee Rogers you'll pay that much every month. As a thank you they offer you the same rate on your overages. That actually seems pretty dang fair to me.
