Sanyo portable projectors

Sanyo on Tuesday announced it will soon add two ultraportable projectors, the PLC-XW250 and the PLC-XW200, to its imaging lineup. Either sports a 1280x768 native resolution and is meant for use in education, especially K-12. Sanyo is touting the pair's eco-power stand-by mode as a breakthrough feature; it uses up just 0.4W of power, which represents an 80% improvement over a previous generation Sanyo projector, the PLC-XW60. Their packaging is also greener with easily recyclable pulp molds instead of plastic or styrofoam.

The only difference between the two in terms of specifications is the brightness rating, as the PLC-XW250 is rated at 2,600 lumens and the PLC-XW200 at 2,200 lumens. Otherwise, they share the same 4:3 aspect ratio, 500:1 contrast ratio, and a 220W lamp. Minimum screen size is 40 inches, while the maximum tops 300 inches. An Ethernet jack lets users connect either product to a network for remote control.

Video inputs include one each of composite, VGA and S-video. It also has two RCA connectors and one component link through an adapter. Either weighs 5.5lbs.

Sanyo's Easy Setup functionality is integrated as well, with an auto input signal search feature, auto vertical keystone correction, and an Input Guidance Function that is basically an on-screen troubleshooting guide.

The PLC-XW250 and the PLC-XW200 will be available in June, priced at $895 and $795, respectively.
