iPhone apps: Photo fx, iHagaki Postcards, Archie

Crime Spree, Postino


  • Photo fx ($3) provides users with 26 different customizable photo filters and 27 different film looks. The filters have been broken down into five different categories and includes effects such as: black and white, black pro-mist, color spot, night vision and pencil. The software is also able to crop, rotate, and straighten images.

  • iHagaki Postcards allows users to create and send postcards to any US address from their iPhone or iPod touch. Photos can be taken from the photo library or take new photos with the iPhone's built-in camera. Personalized messages can be added to the back of the postcard and the final product is sent as a 6" by 4" printed card delivered by U.S. first class mail. The cards cost $1.50 each along with 46 cents for domestic shipping.

  • Archie: Freshman Year #1 (free) brings the popular comic book series to the iPhone and iPod touch. This is the first part of a five part series and includes 62 screens that are presented in full color. The story follows Archie Andrews' first day of school at Riverdale High and has him dealing with bullies, friends, and a lover triangle.

  • Crime Spree ($2) puts players in the driver seat of a getaway car. The players goal is to outrun cops while collecting cash that has been left around the city. The car is controlled by tapping on the side of the screen that players to go or using the accelerometer. The game includes two different game modes, Arcade, where players must collect all of the loot in a level to progress, and Survival, where players try to collect as much cash as possible before getting caught.

  • Postino (free) is a tool for creating and sending postcards on an iPhone and iPod touch. Users can use any photo from their device and position it accordingly as well as add frames, text and signatures. The finished card can then be sent to the company who will print off a high quality version of it and send it to a designated address for $2. Users can also choose to purchase multiple stamps at the same time to receive a 20 percent discount.
