Carrier certification pointing to 4GB - 32GB iPhones?

iPhone 32GB certification

An alleged approval by the PCS Type Review Certification Board suggests that Apple may be ready to launch new iPhones in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities, according to Engadget. If the source is correct, the certifications would add evidence to several rumors regarding Apple's upcoming handsets, including the possibility of an entry-level iPhone and a high-end model that doubles the storage of the current 16GB version.

A previous report suggests Apple's recent order of 100 million NAND chips, including 16Gb components, points to an upcoming 32GB variant. A promotional teaser from T-Mobile Australia briefly listed a 32GB in the "coming soon" section, although the listing was quickly pulled.

A 32GB iPhone is generally expected from Apple, as developments in flash memory allow the larger-capacity components to be built into the handset housing. A number of analysts also anticipate a 4GB model, although the rumored specs have varied widely from a smaller form-factor device to a full-sized variant with scaled-down features. The latest claim, however, could simply be referring to a recertification of the discontinued 4GB iPhone.

Many believe Apple will launch the new devices at the upcoming WWDC conference later in June. Others suggest the company will hold a special event later in the month or in July, after Steve Jobs has returned from his leave of absence.

    Can't be true

We already read that Best Buy had place holders for just three phones.

And we've already been explained to over and over again that Apple can't make so many different models of iPhones. It would be just too confusing for the customers to know which to buy.

Or does the average iPhone customer only have the capability to determine color and RAM size, but trying to decide on a different cell provider makes their head explode? The same reason why Apple won't make a mini-tower.
