Best Buy iPhone stock low
iPhone inventory is now extremely limited in the Best Buy supply chain, a memo from the retailer's corporate division is said to warn. Shipments of the device are expected to be light or non-existent over the course of the next few weeks, the memo elaborates, and it is suggested that some stores may run out of product completely. The Best Buy situation follows reports of low stock at AT&T and Vodafone Australia.
Whenever Apple introduces updated hardware, it is known to let earlier versions of a product run out, thereby reducing the need to dispose of leftover stock. Widespread shortages may thus be confirmation of analyst predictions, arguing that the company is planning to announce a new iPhone at WWDC -- which begins June 8th -- and then ship the device several weeks later. The same pattern was followed for the first- and second-generation iPhone launches.

I'm surprised that
people are still buying the older 3G models with the new model just around the corner. Of course, not everyone is sitting at their computers every day just following every tidbit of information about the new iPhone and it's exact release date. I hope they sell out all those 3G iPhones and just deplete the entire stock.
I'm sure not everyone will need all the features that the new iPhone will offer, so as long as the 3G model is sold for less, it still should find some buyers.
