Adobe Flash Catalyst beta
Adobe has posted the first public beta of Flash Catalyst, a new tool for Flash website and application designers. The software helps convert art from Photoshop and Illustrator into practical interfaces, through the creation of interactive prototypes. No coding is done within Catalyst; instead designs are published in the form of SWF files, which can be shared with developers in order to demonstrate plans.
The software can be downloaded by anyone with a free Adobe Labs membership, and is split into Mac and Windows versions. The former requires Mac OS X 10.5.7, as well as 1GB of RAM and another 1GB of hard drive space. 2GB of RAM is strongly recommended, along with extra hard drive room during the installation process. It is not certain if Catalyst will become a part of the next Creative Suite, but a final version of the program should be ready in the first half of 2010.
