ASUS G51 notebook

ASUS has uncovered a new gaming-oriented notebook, the G51. Similar in concept to competing Alienware systems, the G51 uses a stylized "robot" design, in addition to providing high-end performance specifications. Unusual in the latter regard is the option of a Core 2 Quad processor, clocked at either 2 or 2.26GHz. More mundane Core 2 Duo configurations can be clocked anywhere between 2 and 3.06GHz.

The system's 15.6-inch display is LED backlit, and arranged in a 16:9 widescreen ratio; powering graphics is a GeForce GTX 260M, equipped with 1GB of onboard VRAM. Up to 1TB of hard drive storage is available, along with up to 4GB of 800MHz DDR2 RAM. Other hardware options include a Blu-ray drive, an illuminated keyboard and a two-megapixel camera. Software is meanwhile used to conserve power whenever possible, and overclock the CPU by as much as 20 percent.

ASUS has yet to publish prices or a release date.
