Leaked Palm Pre guide shows iPhone comparison

Palm Pre Leaked Guide

A leak of Sprint's guide to the Palm Pre for business late yesterday has revealed key details about the launch of the smartphone, including Sprint's attitude towards both the iPhone and T-Mobile G1. In its comparison unearthed by Engadget, the carrier touts less direct features as an advantage, including the built-in camera flash, a hardware keyboard and the Synergy feature that merges multiple contacts and calendars. Sprint also boasts the least expensive unlimited service with a $100 plan compared to the $150 for an iPhone on AT&T and $125 for T-Mobile.

The side-by-side makes tenuous claims to advantages such as access to live TV, which is potentially available through some iPhone apps, as well as its special NASCAR app.

Simultaneously, the guide presents a mixed view of the Pre's suitability to business. Although Sprint notes that the phone will support multiple Microsoft Exchange push accounts, remote wipe and built-in Office document viewing, the company warns equally that any company with specific app or policy needs should likely avoid the Pre in favor of a Treo Pro.

Supporting the comparison are relatively new details of the Palm Pre's launch. While its Saturday June 6th launch will be uncharacteristic, it now also plans to hold VIP launch events a day earlier at 10 flagship retail stores that will open sales early to celebrities and other invitation-only guests. An executive breakfast is planned for that same morning, and celebrities will also have access at a Hollywood event on the 3rd.

The Pre is crucial to both Palm and Sprint not just as a centerpiece but as a means of recovering losses in market share and financial health, some of which has been lost specifically to the iPhone.

    Ready Now???

The last line for "Ready Now" should have a giant asterisk - because most indicators point to Sprint having a very small inventory.

    Ready Now?

Why does Ready Now have a no for the iPhone? The iPhone has been out for a couple tears now....

    Haha.

"Ready Now" doesn't mean its ready now. Do you do any further reading aside from electronista/macnn? From Sprint:

"With Ready Now, Sprint has trained and committed its retail associates to work one-on-one with customers to personalize phones, set up features and demonstrate how phones work - before customers leave the store."

Come on guys! Do some more in depth reading. You should have figure this one out.

    re: "Ready Now???"

The whole thing should be a giant asterisk. I expected marketing hype and exaggeration, but I didn't expect outright bold faced lies. That is precisely what the majority of this ad amounts to.

Please, point out all the lies. And don't forget to email them to the FTC, since lying in ads is actually against the law.

Oh, wait, you can't. Oh well, I guess your comment was hype and exaggeration as well.

    Love you guys.

So let me get this straight, the guy that thinks "Ready Now" involves release dates gets 3 thumbs up, and I, the guy that sheds light on what it actually means, gets three thumbs down?

    hahahahhaha. amazing.

you get three thumbs down for the same reason testudo gets three thumbs down. Figure it out. Hint: it has something to do with you both being pieces of poo.
