Lenovo C300 and G550

Lenovo completed its PC introductions today with a nettop as well as a low-cost, mid-size notebook. The IdeaCentre C300 has a 20-inch display and a DVD burner like many full all-in-ones but uses a 1.6GHz Atom 230 to drive down costs. It has a distinctly fashion-oriented design and comes in a more exotic red as well as black or white.

Its pricing starts as low as $449 and brings a 160GB hard drive, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, Wi-Fi and the rare addition of FireWire. Lenovo gives options for up to 640GB of storage and plans to ship the C300 sometime in July.

The 15.6-inch IdeaPad G550 should define Lenovo's basic but full-size notebooks with a 16:9 ratio as well as a thinner and lighter design than before. Base hardware isn't published but should involve Core 2 Duo processors, GMA X4500 video, Bluetooth and a DVD burner for the $599 asking price. These systems should scale up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, a 320GB hard drive and faster GeForce 105M video. Lenovo delivers the G550 in June.
