DEVONthink, DEVONnote hit beta 5 release

updated 02:10 pm EDT, Fri May 22, 2009

New DEVON betas

The v2.0 betas of both DEVONthink and DEVONnote have received a fifth update from DEVONtechnologies, as well as a redesigned iPhone web application. DEVONthink is used to store and organize a variety of filetypes, ranging from text documents to webpages. DEVONnote creates and organizes notes.

Both of the updated titles include features such as smart groups, unlimited complex search terms, advanced Boolean and proximity operators and the ability to open multiple databases simultaneously. Interfaces have been designed to resemble Finder windows. Other planned components include smart tags, PDF annotations, image editing and uploads through the web interface, though these will only be implemented within the next few updates.

DEVONthink Professional Office 2.0 shares databases with other users on a local network or over the Internet, including users of the iPhone web app. The software also supports tabbed browsing and editing, as well as Cover Flow to simplify working with multiple documents.

The new betas of DEVONthink and DEVONnote require Mac OS X 10.5, and can be downloaded from the DEVONtechnologies website. The current codebase will be applicable until May 31st, when either a new beta or the final update will be released. DEVONthink Pro Office costs $150, while DEVONthink Pro is $80. DEVONthink Personal is available for $50, and DEVONnote is just $25.
