Sharp outs e-dictionary

Sharp has recently released its new RD-PM10 multimedia e-dictionary that shares many of the same design traits as a Mobile Internet Device (MID). While there is no Wi-Fi connection for web access, users can watch videos and play back music on the device thanks to its internal 8GB of storage and a microSD memory card slot. The interface for the sliding form factor device is via a 4.3-inch, 480x272 touchscreen with a QWERTY keyboard and a number of shortcut buttons.

The RD-PM10 packs a Texas Instruments Da Vinci TMS320DM6441 processor, an FM radio tuner, a voice recorder and a pair of stereo speakers into its 5.5- by 3.1- by 1.0-inch form factor. The operating system is Windows CE 5.0. Preloaded software includes 128 dictionaries. Supported file formats include MP3, WMA, ASF, and WAV for audio and XviD, DivX and OGG for video. Power for the setup comes from a 3,500mAh lithium-polymer battery.

The RD-PM10 is currently available in Korea, priced at the equivalent of about $290. [via Pocketables]
