AMD Tigris at Computex

AMD is allegedly preparing a new notebook platform, codenamed "Tigris", for a formal launch at the Computex 2009 conference, according to a Commercial Times report. The system will integrate a 45nm dual-core Caspian processor, 55nm or 40nm M9x GPUs and the company's RS880M chipsets. The specs appear to match a leaked roadmap, which suggests the platform will support DDR2 800MHz memory and HD video decoding, along with DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connections.

The chip-maker may also be set to announce its "Danube" platform that is expected to arrive sometime in 2010. The devices will feature 45nm Champlain CPUs with up to four cores, paired with faster DDR3 1,066MHz RAM. Graphics acceleration will be provided by an updated Manhattan-series GPU, while the SBxxM-series chipset is said to support USB 3.0.

The report claims the company will utilize its Yukon and Congo platforms for notebooks with display sizes of 13-inches or smaller. Tigris, however, is geared for 14-inch or larger devices.

Computex 2009 is held in Taipei and scheduled to begin June 2nd. [via DigiTimes]
