Digipower releases Jumpstart line of battery chargers

updated 04:35 pm EDT, Fri May 15, 2009

Jumpstart Sport released

Digipower has announced a new line of universal battery chargers, led by its flagship product, the Jumpstart Sport. A variety of chargers should eventually emerge under the label, featuring different battery types and sizes.

The Sport uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack that comes with connectors for a number of cellphones and other portable devices, such as iPhones and BlackBerries. Digipower claims it should allow electronics to last an entire day, requiring only 40 minutes for a full recharge. A gauge indicates remaining battery power.

A separate, cheaper emergency charger provides quick power for cellphones, adding up to one hour of extra talk time. It is also small enough to hang from a phone, and can be charged simultaneously with its parent using either a car or wall charger.

The Jumpstart line should roll out this June. The emergency charger will cost $15, while the Sport will cost $50.
