UTS update released
Extensis has released v2.0 of its font server program. Universal Type Server enables users to store fonts on its server, listing them in a single centralized library. Users can activate each font, assigning it to a project to ensure there is font consistency across all users who work on the project.
The interface now includes a Font Preview feature, allowing users to ensure the quality of fonts before releasing them for use. The new System Font feature helps prevent users from installing unlicensed or unapproved fonts into the system font folders. The server also includes external SQL database support, offering increased font scalability.
Universal Type Server stores all fonts and font metadata -- classifications, keywords, and regrouped families -- in a central location on the server, making them more accessible to users. This too helps users ensure their font licenses are all kept compliant.
Universal Type Server 2.0 is available to all current licensed owners for free, while people wishing to purchase it should contact a sales representative through the Extensis website.
