Group effort scanners

Three companies, Fujitsu, FileMaker Inc., and Acordex, have combined resources in order to target the low-cost, high-speed document scanning market. The companies have integrated Acordex's DocKeep Pro with FileMaker Pro 10, to help produce high-speed scanning using Fujitsu's fi-6130 and fi-6140 document scanners.

The Fujitsu scanners are intended to digitize large quantities of documents, which can then be edited and stored using the combination DocKeep Pro and FileMaker Pro 10 softwares. DocKeep Pro manages the scanning process of the Fujitsu scanner, providing control of the scanner's capabilities without an intermediate software layer. Using DocKeep Pro, users start either a new document or open an existing document and then alter the document as needed. The program is integrated with FileMaker Pro 10 scripts enabling users to share their newly created documents through their networks, and over the internet in various file formats.

The Fujitsu fi-6130 and fi-6140 each cost less than $2000 and can scan up to 40 and 60 pages per minute, respectively.
