Samsung Alias 2 e-ink phone on sale at Verizon

Samsung Alias 2 On Sale

Verizon in keeping with recent leaks today began offering the Samsung Alias 2. The dual-direction flip phone is the only one to use e-ink for its keys and uses this to auto-rotate and re-label the keys rather than use a second set; in traditional mode it uses a typical number pad, but flips instantly to a QWERTY keyboard when the display is rotated into landscape mode. The technology doesn't draw power outside of changes and doesn't affect battery life.

The phone is otherwise a conventional design with a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth with stereo audio and a microSDHC slot that takes up to 16GB cards; the external display has dedicated music controls. GPS comes only through an assist through Verizon's VZ Navigator. The carrier officially lists the phone as selling for $130 on a two-year plan but drops the price to $80 after factoring in a rebate.
