PopCap has launched Plants vs. Zombies, a third-person zombie-shooter with a humorous edge. Gamers protect their lawns from invading zombies by using a variety of zombie-zapping plants. The game provides five different modes of play, including adventure, survival, puzzle, Zen-garden and mini-game challenges. The adventure mode contains 50 individual levels, while over 50 more levels are spread across the other four modes.
Plants vs. Zombies offers 49 different plants to defend against 26 types of zombies, including pole-vaulters, snorkelers, businessmen and a bobsled team, among others. As the game progresses, additional plants with unique zombie-battling abilities become available -- gamers have to decide which plants to use and where to plant them for the best defense. In later levels, the setting sun, an obscuring fog and a swimming pool serve as additional challenges.
Plants vs. Zombies requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or higher, 512MB of RAM and at least a 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo processor. The game is now available for download for $20.
