Twin 1.0 online backup enters beta

updated 11:30 am EDT, Mon May 4, 2009

Twin 1.0 beta released

app4mac has released a beta version of a new online backup application, Twin 1.0. The program is compatible with several formats, including FTP, Amazon S3, MobileMe and others. It also offers 256-bit AES encryption, and backup to external drives should a computer be offline.

The program generates detailed reports of each backup operation, enabling files to be easily found later. All files transferred are either split or grouped into segments of up to 25MB, which is said to ensure faster uploads.

Twin originates from the source code of Persistence, which was recently purchased by app4mac. All Persistence owners are entitled to a free license of Twin 1.0; the beta app is otherwise limited to paying customers. The full version should be available May 14th at a cost of approximately $40.
