Blackmagic Design has launched the Converter Utility, a software update for the company’s series of Mini Converters. New features provide an HD down-converter in the Mini Converter SDI to Analog model, and support for 1080p/50, 1080p/59.94, and 1080p/60 via 3Gbps SDI. The Utility also offers new functions for some specific Mini Converters, enabling them to check for a firmware update automatically via USB.
The addition of the down-converter in the Mini Converter SDI allows HD to be converted to SD in letterbox, anamorphic 16:9 and center-cut 4:3 modes. The Utility lastly uses the converters' built-in USB connection to adjust video and audio levels through a software interface. Converter Utility is available for download from the company’s website, and is free of charge to owners of the SDI to Analog or SDI to HDMI Mini Converters.
