Vista SP2 RTM dated

Microsoft through its Windows blog announced on Tuesday that the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) versions of Service Pack 2 of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 have been completed. The builds include updates found in SP1 and adds support for emerging hardware standards. Both include a single installer for both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, easing the installation, management and support processes for IT professionals.

Some of the key updates in Windows Vista SP2 include Windows Search 4.0 for faster, more relevant searches, Bluetooth 2.1 Feature Pack, native Blu-ray recording and Windows Connect Now that makes it easier to set up Wi-Fi connections. There is also added support for UTC timestamps in the exFAT file system, allowing correct file synchronization across time zones.

These are the same updates revealed for the Release Candidate version of Vista SP2 at the end of February. Full details of the changes in Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 are available on Microsoft's TechNet site.

The blog entry also announced it is removing the Windows Vista SP1 Service Pack Blocker Tool via an update and will therefore push the earlier update to corporate networks that use automatic updates.

Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 SP2 is due to be made available to the public later this spring.
