Samsung Omnia Pro due with slide-out QWERTY?

updated 10:10 am EDT, Mon April 27, 2009

Samsung Omnia Pro Rumor

An Italian rmor from this weekend claims that Samsung is developing a new, flagship Omnia that would significantly improve on even the i8910, which itself was originally named the Omnia HD. Supposedly titled the Omnia Pro, the new model would get a 3.5-inch, 480x800 AMOLED screen but would also be the first Omnia with a hardware QWERTY keyboard, sliding out from underneath the screen. It would still have a 5-megapixel camera and would get a fast 624MHz processor.

While few other details are available, the phone is expected to ship with Windows Mobile 6.1 but have enough performance to be upgradable to Windows Mobile 6.5 once that OS is released in late summer. Samsung is seen as relatively close to announcing the phone and may do so as soon as July. Its cost outside of carrier discounts may sit as high as 500 Euros ($655). [via CoolSmartPhone]
