X-mini Happy MP3 prototype

Singapore-based XM-I has released a new product to its range of desktop computer speakers with the X-mini Happy. These speakers get a newfound standalone digital music player that accesses tracks from the equally new SDHC memory card slot. The design otherwise borrows heavily from the company's X-mini II speaker, and includes that product's optional modular buddy jack that lets users daisy-chain together as many speakers as they wish.

Battery life for the X-mini Happy is rated at 11 hours when the speakers are plugged into an outside source via their 3.5mm audio jack, or six hours when the music is playing from the SDHC cards inserted into the device. A mini USB cable allows users to transfer music or other files to and from the SDHC cards and charges the device's batteries.

The X-mini Happy is in prototype stages for now, but it is slated to reach store shelves in unspecified markets this summer. Prices have not been disclosed. [via CNET]
