Trance coming to Verizon

Verizon announced on Thursday that the Samsung Trance slider handset will be available at the carrier this Friday. The mid-range, dual-band CDMA cellphone offers a 2.1-inch display with 176x220 resolution and has Bang & Olufsen ICEpower speakers for better-than-usual quality sound reproduction in a phone. There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack and 1GB of built-in memory that can be expanded by up to a 16GB microSDHC memory card.

The Trance will be compatible with Verizon's VZ Navigator service for directions and users can also download music via the V CAST service with Rhapsody support, though this has to be done with a PC and then transferred to the handset via a USB cable. Music file support includes MP3, WMA, AAC and AAC+ files. There is a shortcut to the music library and users can create their own playlists, which they can listen to while performing other functions on the phone, like e-mail or the web

Rounding out the feature set are a 1.3-megapixel camera and Bluetooth support. Verizon will offer the Trance in black or red for $50 after a mail-in rebate and on a new two-year contract.
