Prizmo document scanner
Creaceed has launched Prizmo, a Mac application that works as a scanner for users with digital cameras. The software scans documents of all sizes, including those in custom portrait and landscape ratios, formats such as US Letter and US Legal, and indoor and outdoor photographs. Direct browsing of camera content is provided, along with support for iPhoto, Aperture and Lightroom libraries. Tuning features help alter brightness, contrast, sharpness and saturation.
Extracted images can be previewed, and the results of a preview pane can be dragged into any other supporting application. JPEG, RAW and TIFF photo input is supported; output is delivered in JPEG, TIFF or PNG form. To help create a desired look, the program also uses "smart" binarization for improved output resolution, and the ability to guess optimal DPI for an image and grid configuration. The extraction grid allows interactive document positioning.
Compatible with Mac OS X 10.5.6 or higher, Prizmo is priced at $40 for a regular license or $20 for students. A free trial is also available, though any images generated are watermarked.
