VP announces 2009 games
Virtual Programming has announced three more ports for the Mac scheduled for 2009: Pipemania, X3: Terran Conflict and Majesty 2. Pipemania is a Pipe Dream clone, in which players lay down pipes on a tiled grid in order to keep a constant flow. The game takes place on a private island purchased by Alfonso Senior, who earned a fortune in the original versions of the game. While playing the Mac version gamers take control of Alfonso’s children, Junior and Fawcett, as they lead the family business and try and save the island from cowboy plumbers, the biggest being Buffalo Bonzo.
X3 is the end of a trilogy devoted to trading and combat in space. The game is set in the year 2938, and brings players back to Earth’s solar system; characters now include a Terran military pilot, a member of the series' newest faction. Over 100 new spaceships, ship classes and weapon systems are present, along with additional missions and jobs. A redesigned user interface is said to offers simpler control via mouse, keyboard or joystick. Other features include a new group management tool, and the ability for outside teams to board large battleships.
Majesty 2 is a real-time strategy game in which players rule the kingdom of Ardania. While building a city, gamers must defend their realm using warriors, wizards, barbarians and several heroes capable of operating independently. The title provides a 16-mission campaign divided into four chapters, as well as several "quick" missions and a variety of multiplayer maps. Multiplayer supports up to four people via LAN or internet, with ladder and tournament rankings.
Prices and system requirements for the upcoming releases are not currently available.
