Power My Mac launches DC Power Adapter

updated 04:55 pm EDT, Mon April 20, 2009

DC-DC Power Adapter

Power My Mac has launched a new car and airline charger for MacBooks, the DC Power Adapter. Designed as a DC-DC converter with regulated output voltage, the device has been factory set to 16.5V. The adapter is equipped with short-circuit protection as well as an internal temperature limit cut-off, and should support all MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models.

Available in 60W and 85W versions, the adapter is capable of powering and charging a person’s Mac with any 12-30V DC power source. Bundled with the device are two input cables -- for cigarette or airline outlets -- and an output cable meant for Apple's MagSafe connectors.

The 60W adapter is compatible with MacBook and MacBook Air systems, and is priced at $200. The 85W version supports all MacBooks, and costs $220.
