REALbasic 2009 Release 2

REAL has posted REALbasic 2009 Release 2, the latest version of its cross-platform development suite. The software is capable of operating on Mac, Windows and Linux systems, and in its two higher-end editions can compile for any of the three platforms. The updated code is said to include 70 basic improvements and 18 new features, such as official support for the Community Edition of MySQL. Windows apps created with the software can now control others that support COM automation.

Accompanying Release 2 is the introduction of REALbasic Studio, which expands on the features of Professional. IDE scripting and code profiling options become available, as do unlimited licenses for both REAL Server and REALbasic. Buyers are also given first priority in tech support and a year of free updates. The Studio software costs $1,495, while Professional is $299, and Personal is $99.
