ExtremeZ-IP 6.0 released
Native Microsoft DFS support for the Mac platform is the headlining feature of Group Logic's ExtremeZ-IP 6.0 update release. ExtremeZ-IP supports Mac and Windows mixed networks, allowing file- and print-sharing between Mac desktops and Windows servers. Native Microsoft Distributed File System (DFS) support for Macs, along with support for Network Spotlight, brings Mac and Windows users to the same level of network compatibility and file/print sharing capabilities. Version 6.0 provides virtual DFS Namespace access to Mac clients and supports full DFS replication and site costing, while allowing the Mac to maintain its AFP file-sharing protocol within the DFS environment.
Support for Network Spotlight means Mac users connected to an ExtremeZ-IP file server can search a phrase and get results from all the files on the server that contain the phrase. Use of the feature requires activation of Microsoft Windows Search.
ExtremeZ-IP 6.0 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and is available in small business packs, and corporate packages, varying from a 3-client server for $600 to a 100-client server for $4500. Unlimited clients and clusters are available by requesting a quote.
