Apple schedules Q2 results call for April 22nd

Apple sets Q2 call date

Apple has set a firm time and date for the disclosure of its second-quarter financial results, according to an announcement. A conference call with investors and analysts is now scheduled for 2PM Pacific time, 5PM Eastern, on April 22nd. The call will also be simulcast via the web, though a copy of QuickTime is required.

Issues at stake in Apple's results include the company's ability to cope with the global recession, which has reduced demand for electronics in general and may particularly hurt Apple due to the costly nature of its products. Compensating should be the introduction of new iMacs, Mac minis and Mac Pros in March, as well as the third-generation iPod shuffle, although Shuffles have not typically formed a bulk of iPod sales. The iPhone 3G is meanwhile believed to be selling better than expected, given the combination not only of a recession but an anticipated mid-summer replacement.
