SlingPlayer Mobile 1.0 for BlackBerry now available

updated 03:55 pm EDT, Fri March 27, 2009

SlingPlayer Mobile now out

BlackBerry users in the US can now download the full build of the SlingPlayer Mobile application for their handsets, Sling Media announced recently. The full version follows on the heels of the beta build, which was first released back in December. As expected, there are some new features in the full build, including the ability to add or edit paired Slingboxes and Channel Favorites via the program instead of just SlingPlayer 2.0 for Windows.

Also, users now have an added setting for low-bandwidth streaming, an enhanced aspect ratio or display mode support and audio track selection in the channel program, if available. Users also get a new interface that includes new indicators such as connection type, volume level and keypad lock.

BlackBerry devices compatible with the SlingPlayer Mobile include the Bold, 8820, Curve 8320 and Pearl 8120 from AT&T; the Curve 8900, Curve 8320 and Pearl Flip 8220 from T-Mobile; as well as the Curve 8350i from Sprint Nextel. Apart from the AT&T Bold, all need to access SlingPlayer Mobile through their Wi-Fi connections.

The application lets users stream the video from a Slingbox and control their TVs and DVRs via their Slingbox streaming video hub.

The full version of the software is priced at $30, but includes a 30-day free trial, and does require that users have a Slingbox connected to their TV to take advantage of the new software.
