iPhone apps: Convertbot, MyTrainer, Twice

Blackboard, PocketFit Diet


  • Convertbot ($1) is a conversion tool that allows users to convert between different units such as, currency, length, mass and time. The interface features large input buttons with audio feedback and allows users to enter mixed units such as a combination of feet and inches or pounds and ounces. In addition to the previously mentioned units Convertbot also features support for categories such as area, angles, pressure, speed and power.

  • MyTrainer ($1) is a collection of workout routines that have been broken down into categories such as back, shoulder and chest workouts. Each of the workouts include both video and written instructions that provide detailed steps on how to properly perform each exercise. The application also includes some general training and nutrition tips and the developers are hoping to continually add new workouts on a biweekly basis.

  • Twice ($1) is a game where players must flip the face-down tiles in a puzzle to try to find matching pairs. The game features three different modes of play, one with a time restriction, one with a turn restriction and one with no restrictions.

  • Blackboard Learn (free) allows students to access their schools Blackboard platform from an iPhone or iPod touch. This service lets users receive updates and alerts on grades, assignments, tests and other information from courses as well as groups and organizations.

  • PocketFit Diet ($2) provides recipes for 48 different healthy meals and snacks. A users can select from the options manually or request a random recipe. The application also includes a series of eating tips that can help users better understand actions that can help make a diet more successful.
