Acer intros X270s into US

Acer on Thursday announced that the Veriton X270 series of business desktop PCs is now available in North America. The small form factor PCs can be had with a choice of Intel processors, including the Intel Core 2 Duo, as well as SATA hard drives as large as 500GB and up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM. NVIDIA's integrated GeForce 7100 chipset gives all the systems support for hardware HD video decoding.

A gigabit Ethernet port allows for quick connection with the office LAN, There are nine USB 2.0 ports in total, between the front and rear panels of the PCs. An HDMI port is also included, as is support for 5.1-channel high-definition audio. For upgrading, there is a PCI Express x16 slot, a PCI Express x1 slot and two PCI 2.3 ports. The doorless optical drive bay houses a DVD writer with LabelFlash disc-labeling technology.

All Veriton X270s let admins diagnose and sometimes fix PCs as well as send them updates or other information when they're turned off. For securing data, removable data devices, optical drives, and other interfaces are already password-protected.

Prices for the Veriton X270 desktop PCs start at $399, though Acer hasn't provided base specs for these systems.
