Commander: Napoleon at War

Freeverse has launched the war-based game Commander: Napoleon at War for the Mac, after being previously announced in January. The latest instalment in the Commander series is a high-level turn-based strategy game that provides the same gameplay mechanics as its predecessor, and takes place in the Napoleonic era. In addition to the mechanics, Napoleon at War offers several new features such as a more in-depth combat system, detailed victory conditions, looting, razing, and vassal states.

During the game users play through eight different campaigns that takes players to places like Austria in 1805, to waterloo in 1815, and must learn to work with 12 various units consisting of infantry, cavalry, and artillery, to help them complete their missions. Players can take control of either Napoleon’s army or the Allied Coalition who opposed him, which includes Britain, Prussia, Austria and Russia. The game also includes a series of smaller scenarios specifically designed for multiplayer.

Users play through a detailed map that covers all of Europe and deal with a dynamic weather system that dishes out mud, snow, and storms, which can hinder your army’s progression. Throughout play, users have the ability to recruit the historic commanders Ney, Blucher, and Wellington.

Commander: Napoleon at War can be purchased from the Freeverse website for $50 and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
