Adobe Director update

Adobe has released the latest version of its application- and multimedia-creation software, Director 11.5. The update adds a new audio engine that supports 5.1-channel surround sound, along with real-time audio mixing capabilities. Support for H.264 and RTMP-based streaming have also been added, allowing developers to integrate HD video content. Users can now import 3-D models from Google SketchUp and SketchUp 3-D.

Developers can also apply audio filters or bitmap filters on a video, or take advantage of the NVIDIA PhysX engine for creating games or simulations requiring gravity or other physics effects. The update now allows multiple undo or redo for text editors and provides cross-domain policy support for Shockwave.

Director 11.5 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5, Windows XP or Windows Vista. The software carries a price of $1000 and is expected to ship sometime by the end of March. An upgrade from the previous version of Director can be purchased for $300.
