Sigma DP2 pre order

Amazon is now taking pre-orders for Sigma's DP2 pseudo-DSLR camera. The device, first seen in September, features the same 14-megapixel FOVEON X3 image sensor that is found in the company's SD14 DSLR. The DP2 follows the DP1 and is claimed to offer most of the capabilities of a full-fledged DSLR but in a compact package. A 24.2 mm F2.8 lens provides Super Multi Layer Coating to battle against ghosting and flares.

The DP2 can capture in RAW mode, with a 1:1 brightness and color recording ratio, along with an ISO sensitivity up to ISO 3,200. A full range of adjustments allows three metering modes, three automatic exposure modes and manual exposure adjustments form +3.0 to -3.0 in 1/3 stop increments. Users can add external flash modules or 46mm components such as filters or a close-up lens.

Customers can pre-order the DP2 from Amazon for $650, although an estimated ship date remains unknown.

    Smegma

Avoid this dog as you should everything else branded Sigma.

It's not 14 megapixels. Sigma is well known for being creative with their math. And if it's anything like their crappy DSLRs, you'll love the Homer Simpson skin tones.

    Sadly...

The previous poster is right. The Foveon chip is a total failure.

    "pseudo-DSLR"

I suppose the author meant "high-end digital point-and-shoot" rather than "pseudo-DSLR."

This camera neither purports to be or imitates a single lens reflex camera.
