Samsung preps NC310 netbook with 3G, WiMAX

updated 07:25 am EDT, Mon March 23, 2009

Samsung NC310 Netbook

Samsung today quickly followed up on the recent launch of the NC20 by launching its third major netbook. The NC310 tries to capture attention through a much bolder design with all-rounded edges, bright colors and a very conspicuous Samsung logo. It also joins ASUS, Sony and others in adopting an edge-to-edge "chiclet" keyboard rather than smaller and typically scalloped keys.

It should also stand out in practical specifications with a relatively long 5-hour battery life on a stock battery that grows to 11 hours on an extended pack; 3G networking is an option over HSPA, while WiMAX (WiBro in Korea) provides 4G support.

Most other details are typical; though Samsung hasn't named the choice of processor other than an Intel Atom, it also has typical high-end netbook specs with 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 802.11g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth all driving Windows XP. Pricing hasn't been set, but the NC310 is set for a worldwide launch that will include North America. [via Akihabara News]
