Troubleshooting Mac OS X


In brief: LaCie has formed a strategic partnership with an online storage provider, while The X Lab has announced a new troubleshooting book and Parallels has opened preregistration to next year's summit. Caleido AG, creators of the online storage solution Wuala have announced that it has merged with LaCie, a manufacturer of external storage devices. Dominik Grolimund, co-founder and CEO of Caledio AG is excited about the new partnership and believes that together the two companies will be able to "build a reliable and secure cloud storage by integrating millions of devices around the world." LaCie believes the collaboration will allow the company to transform into a comprehensive digital storage provider. Philippe Spruch, LaCie's CEO, is looking forward to providing customers with new storage methods.

Parallels has announced that registration for its fifth annual conference is now open. Parallels Summit 2009 was held earlier this year in Las Vegas and attracted a record number of attendees. The event featured keynote sessions from several respected industry leaders and was headlined by Parallels CEO, Serguei Beloussov. Planning is now underway for the 2010 conference to be held next spring which will focus on the most important trends, issues and technologies impacting the hosting industry, Cloud Computing, Software-as-a-Service (SAS), Automation, Virtualization and Parallel’s 2010 initiatives. Those interested can pre-register for the event by visiting the Summit registration site.

The X Lab has announced the release of a new e-book that has been written to help users prevent or resolve common Mac OS X Leopard problems. "Troubleshooting Mac OS X, Leopard Edition" is the fourth book in The X Lab's series on "Troubleshooting Mac OS X" and includes over 450 pages of help and advice. The book is well referenced and hyperlinked with alternative sections and further Mac OS X troubleshooting information on the Web. Pricing begins at $19.95 for a single-user license.
