NY, NJ 16GB iPhone refurbs
AT&T stores in the states of New York and New Jersey are receiving unusually cheap refurbished iPhones, leaked information suggests. Though only applicable in select stores, a deal already in progress is said to be offering used 16GB iPhone 3Gs for only $149, as compared to the normal retail price of $299. Refurbished iPhones have not typically sold at such low prices, as even 8GB versions have not slipped below $99.
The source of the leak claims that the $149 price is only applicable to new activations, and not upgrades. Users can also pick up only one of the refurbished models at a time. It is not certain what the motivation for the deal may be; while Apple may be trying to clear old stock in advance of new iPhones, AT&T may simply be interested in reinvigorating its subscriptions in the midst of a recession.

Discounted iPhones...
Discounted refurbished iPhones! Wow! What a concept. Imagine not discounting these phones would cause: High inventory, no room for potentially a new form-factor, versus stimulating more demands for the phone since everyone is envious of the iphone and not envious to a price point of $299, given the state of the economy. I am sure AT&T and Apple would prefer to have more iPhone subscribers than a high combined inventory of new and refurbished iphones...
