Mini DisplayPort update
Using Software Update, Apple has begun distributing a firmware upgrade for users of the Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter. The software is said to address problems Macs have had with the adapter, in which video will flicker or go completely blank during use. Difficulties began roughly around the launch of the first unibody MacBook Pro on October 14th.
Similar issues are said to be affecting other recent systems, including even the latest Mac mini, developed while the adapter errors were already recognized. The firmware update is an 11.2MB file, and described as upgrading software on the adapter itself, rather than the Mac it is initially downloaded to. Patching is triggered when the adapter is detected.

Wow.
There is firmware INSIDE the adaptor? That's crazy.
