Gateway Core 2 Quad laptop
Gateway on Monday announced the release of its first P-series notebook to be equipped with Intel's Core 2 Quad CPU, the P-7808u FX Edition. The 2.0GHz gaming and multimedia notebook has 4GB of RAM, and graphics are processed by NVIDIA's GeForce 9800M GTS card with 1GB of dedicated video memory for reproducing 3D graphics effects on the 17-inch, 1440x900 resolution screen. Staying true to its multimedia mission, the notebook has integrated and illuminated keys for controlling audio and video functions.
Standard equipment includes a dual-layer DVD burner with disc labeling tech is standard fare, as is a 500GB hard drive. An HDMI v1.2 output lets users play videos and sound on a connected HDTV or monitor. Connections include three USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire connection and an eSATA jack, while a 5-in-1 digital media card reader lets users quickly download photos or videos from their digital cameras or camcorders. ExpressCard format add-ons are supported with the appropriate slot. Wireless Internet access comes from an 802.11n Wi-Fi. A 1.3-megapixel camera is also built into the 9.05lb notebook.
The P-7808u FX should be available now, with pricing for the trim level coming at $1,800.
